SNAP 2010 Analysis
SNAP 2010 exam, conducted on 19th Dec 2010, had 150 questions to be attempted in 120 minutes. These 150 questions were from four test areas viz. LR, Quant/DI, VA & GK with 30,40,40,40 respectively. General English, QA/DI/DS and General Awareness sections had 40 Qs each while the Analytical & Logical Reasoning section had 30 Qs. *There is no sectional cut-off this time in SNAP but one should score “positive” in each section.
Here is the detailed Analysis : http://www.fuccha.com/category/mba-aspirants/
JMET 2010
The JMET exam conducted on 12thDec was of easy level as compared to the previous year. The test had total time limit of 180 minutes. The positive marks per question were 1 marks and negative marks –0.25. Each question had 4 options. The breakup of questions according to sectional area is given below.
QUANTITATIVE APTITUDE
This section was moderate in Difficulty level. The questions on algebra were mostly from P&C,
Probability and Set theory followed closely by Progressions. At least 5-6 questions should
definitely have been attempted. The questions on Higher Math were from Complex numbers,
Higher Trigonometry, Integration and its application and LPP.The questions on arithmetic were
from Percentage, Ratio and Time speed and distance. The Number system questions were
based on basic properties and should have been attempted. The possible cutoff score could be
14. The time allocation could be 50 minutes.
VERBAL COMMUNICATION
This section was easy as compared to previous years. There were 5 questions directly on
Synonyms and Antonyms, while 2 questions were part of a sentence, from which a synonym
was required to be found. Continuing the trend of the previous year, there were questions on
Grammar testing knowledge of Reported Speech. The Fill in the Blanks questions were based on
Vocabulary as well as Grammar. There were 4 passages. Some of the questions were grammar
based, vocabulary based, fact based and inference based. The possible cutoff score could be
13. The time allocation could be 40 minutes.
LOGICAL REASONING
The difficulty level of this section ranged from easy to Moderate. There were 6 logical caselets
of which 1 was a little confusing .The rest of the sets were easy. At least 14 questions should
have been attempted. The Logical Comparison questions were easy. The Critical reasoning
questions were based on Statement-Assumption and drawing out Logical conclusions. These
should have been left out. The possible cutoff score could be 17. The time allocation could be
40 minutes.
DATA INTERPRETATION
This section was the easiest one as compared to other sections. There were 4 caselets on tables
comprising 3 questions each, of which at least 3 should have been definitely attempted. The 3
sets on bar Graph and 2 sets on pie chart were easy but calculative. One of the sets on bar
graph required observation skills and should have been definitely attempted. The easiest of the sets were from Venn diagram. The possible cutoff score could be 17. The time allocation could
be 50 minutes.

TISS 2010
Like last year TISS-2010 had a compulsory Part-1 paper (common for all courses) which had 50 Qs from Analytical & Numerical Ability, Language Ability and Awareness of General & Social Issues and a Part-2 paper which was different for each of the programs that are offered by TISS. However for those who opted for the HRM & LR course, TISS-2010 turned out to be a mixed bag – Part-1 which had easy Qs where the number of attempts matters more than anything else; and Part-2 which had too many questions and too less time allocated to it given the higher difficulty level. Thus Part-1 would have given students some breath to take but Part-2 was not the same case.
Part-1
Part-1 of the TISS paper was a cakewalk and most students would have been able to solve all Qs within the given time. This Part had three sections with around 15-20 Qs in each. some questions from GK:
AIDS abbreviation
Which is not a part of SAARC?
Taslima Nasrin is the author of which book?
Attempts in the range of 40-45 should be considered to be very good with a possible score of 15+ marks. (keeping 0.40 marks per question)
Part 2
No. of Qs : 75
Description : 5 Sections (Data interpretation, Data Sufficiency, Reading Comprehension,
Description : 5 Sections (Data interpretation, Data Sufficiency, Reading Comprehension,
Business knowledge and Foundation of Management)
This part was on the line of previous year set but had some surprise as DI questions increased to 20 from 10 last year. RC questions were more than last year.
Questions were asked in GK were from diverse fields, some questions were asked on Dabbawallahs,BPO etc. This section was bit lengthy.
Attempts in the range of 42-46 should be considered to be very good with a possible score of 25+ (keeping 0.67 marks per question)
Sectional Scores and Overall Cut-Off
TISS has clearly mentioned that there are NO sectional cut-offs this year. The paper mentioned that Part-2 had a 75% weightage but has not mentioned the weightage per Questions.

SNAP-2009
guys,
Snap is over and we hope that you must have done well in the exam...... here is some analysis of Snap 2009
as already announced earlier...... the paper was on same pattern with
The number of Qs went up from 135 to 150. Last year SNAP had 2 mark Qs in each of the 4 sections; however that was discontinued this year. The Analytical & Logical Reasoning section of SNAP2009 was the only one that had 2 mark Qs in it. General English, QA/DI/DS and General Awareness sections had 40 Qs each while the Analytical & Logical Reasoning section had 30Qs. However the Reasoning section had the maximum weightage and students should have done well to give this section the maximum amount of time as compared to the other sections. All in all this SNAP was definitely easier than the SNAP exams of previous years and the cut-offs should scale new highs. |
